    Default Motor jumps noise

I have 4 425 in/oz motors connected to KL4030 drivers for testing. When I turn on the controller, one of the 4 motors jumps and makes a quick BBBBBLAP! noise( I guess vibrating on the counter) ,then locks up with the rest. Is it a possibility I have that one connected wrong? What could cause this? Thanks!

Your controller should always be active first before the drives are enabled.

    Thanks
What I'm doing is plugging in the parallel port to the breakout board first, then turning on the switch to power the drivers. But the 5v power supply which powers the breakout board kicks on at the same time as the drivers. What do i need to do about that? And why is only one of the 4 motors jumping? Is there something wrong with it?

When you do something that is out of the normal procedure the results can be unpredictable, usually when power is applied to any drives, the enable is not active. If the drive and motor performs normally once the power has settled and the performance is normal, there is probably nothing to worry about, but the proper sequence should normally be followed in a final system configuration.

So do I need some kind of gizmo which delays power to the drivers until after the breakout board powers up? How do you handle this in your electronics? Thanks

What ever the drive uses, in this case it appears it has a ENA enable input, this would be kept low by external contact for example, until the control had powered up and the system was taken out of E-stop etc, or control ready etc.
This is the way it is normally done.
The same way the drives would be disabled if a E-stop was activated.

    Ok
I jumpered the enable (EN) terminal to the 5vDc next to it, like someone shows in this diagram.... http://www.cnczone.com/forums/automa...n_newbies.html

The x axis motor is still jumping when it powers up.

Have you tried swapping motors drives etc?

    No,
But I have 4 motors connected to the c10 breakout board and it would seem to be that at least one aught to work. I tried moving them in Mach3's "motor tuning' config and none of them would move. I have made some progress though; hitting my E-stop button is making Mach 3's 'reset' button flash so i know at least something is communicating,.

    ps
I also uninstalled Mach3. reinstalled, and my motor isn;t jumping anymore, coincidence?

    Red to Blue

The motor wire pairs are spliced together as one wire.
It is on C10 breakout board, KL430 drivers.
This is the way it looked on diagram. Is this correct, or should I take one of these wires off and not use it?
