Inventor 2010 and Video Cards

Would any one know of or use a laptop with a higher end Nvidia video card rather than a work station rated card? I do not have to do large assemblies or anything like that. Mostly assemblies are 20 or less parts. I don't want to buy a $2600.00 work station if a high end consumer type computer with 6-8 gigs ram and a 1 Gig vid card will work.

It will be my luck that the HP from Best Buy won't work for me and it will end up costing $4000.00 all together because I will still have to buy the workstation. I need the laptop to run Inventor and Esprit 2010 only and probably not at the same time. I am not worried about the Esprit. I just have a feeling that Inventor will puke all over a "normal" laptop. I have read on Autodesk's website that it does run ,but....... Did any thing seem to slow down or was jerky or anything out of the ordinary on your HP?

Well, I decided to get the HP workstation instead of trying my luck with a "entertainment" HP. I dug into the Inventor specs and I eventually found where it said at least a 512mb video card was needed. After looking high and low on the HP web site, I couldn't get the one I wanted before the 10th of March. And it was $1700.00 plus by the time I got finished with it. I have to have the computer by the 1st of March to install Esprit 2010 for my training week and the workstation was a quick ship model. Well, what's $2300.00 anyway? It's only money. Did I just say that? That hurt to say.

At least you didn't go with Dell. I ordered mine on November 14th. Was told two weeks. it was January 28th when they finally shipped it. Got it wish a Nvidia 1gb ddr3 vid card. I don't like W7
