| I was wondering if there was a way in ACAD to have the ordinates (X,Y) placed on the drawing as I am working? Right now, I draw first and then have to come back and select every point using the dinension tool 'ordinate'. Is there an easier way? Thanks

| Several companies make add-ons for Autocad that do something similar. Here is an example. http://www.strikersystems.com/ssdesign/ssdesign.pdf They are talking about sheet metal, but it works on any type of drawing. You would make your drawing, press a button and then all the ordinate dimensions are added automatically. The only downside is that it will give you alot more dimensions than you need. For example, you'll get start and end points of fillets, plus the center of the fillet. Its pretty quick to go back and delete out the dimensions you don't want though. I'm sure that there are others, this is just one solutions that I used before. |
