Raised Door Panels

This is my 1st CNC router machine and getting familiar now on how it runs with small engraving projects.

Eventually I would like to do some raised kitchen doors panels with various designs until I settle to the one I like best.

I'm not very good with ACAD (V14) but I can make basic shapes. How do I go about to make a door panel in ACAD?

Are any similar designs available to purchase?

Buy me a Beer?

Do you want to model a solid door? Or do you want to know how to draw a 2D drawing to convert to g-code?

Modeling in ACAD will be way out of my league. I remember the guys at work used to spent days modeling projects but that was complicated industrial staff.

Do I want to make a solid door? Well yes and no. I did make doors before with a table mounted router and it was a 2 steps process. First I made the frame and then inside I fitted a raised panel. My idea with the CNC will be to make the 4 pieces for the frame first and then the raised panel. The groove on the frames where the panel will fit I can do it on my table mounted router as I believe it will be more difficult and time consuming to make this with the CNC.

I can draw a section of a door to scale but I don’t know how to make a door out of it. So I guess I want to know how to draw a 2D drawing. Now assuming that I can learn to make a 2D drawing and convert it to gcode, is this enough to make the door with the CNC?

Later on this knowledge will also help me to make moldings for picture frames too.

You'd be better off making the frame on a standard router table using the appropriate stile and rail router bits.

As for the raised panel, it really depends on exactly what you want and what bits you plan on using. If you use a panel raising bit without a bearing, it's as simple as drawing a rectangle around the panel to represent the toolpath.

It's also possible to manually calculate toolpaths for a ballnose cutter to cut a profile. Typically multiple layers would be used for the different depths of cut. Probably a bit to complicated.

Can you post a picture of what you want to do?

Thank Gerry

Sounds good what you are saying.

I made a quick dwg for what I have in mind. The frame / panel can be more or less complicated.
