    autocad to pdf

    Hi everyone
Can someone tell me how to get a dwg into a pdf document so it will print to scale? I can get it in, but it prints smaller and I want to use them as templates. I am making some plans to email and since everyone dosen't have autocad. I need to have them in pdf format. Thanks

    andy,
The best way I know is to use Adobe Acrobat Distiller.

You just select it like any other printer and the plot goes to an adobe file.

Try this one, i have used it up to size "D" sheets and works well, You have to print out of autocad at a 1:1 and print on a plotter if you have large sheets. Or put a scale on the drawing so they know how much to inlarge it.

    Also its free.

    Thanks guys.
I have been using primo. But I can't get it to print to scale. I may be doing somthing wrong. The templates are small and will fit on regular paper.

I was using autocad LT. I had to use the full version to get the plot right.
    Thanks for the help.

Don't forget that Autocad now has DWF format. It is MUCH more efficient in file size than PDFs, and has other benefits as well.
Anyone can download the DWF Viewer for free from Autodesk's website.

    Guys
I got what I ask for but, that’s not what I really needed.
I did not realize I could not edit a pdf file. As it is now I have to
create each template as a separate file. So I end up with several separate files to send.
What I need is to get autocad drawings into a word document
and keep them to scale. Then convert to pdf. still keeping them to scale and send as one file.
    Any ideas?

    Thanks Andy

Not sure I understand why you need to do what you explained. If you are looking to put all the drawings into one PDF file, try downloading a PDF print driver like PDFfactory or PDFfactoryPro from fineprint.com.
Instead of printing from Autocad to the printer, you select this print driver which sends the data to a separate utility where you can accummulate multiple PDFs into one file.
They have a free trial period. Assuming you pick the right scale for the right size paper, you should be able to print to scale.
In AutoCAD 2005 you are able to put multiple DWF files into one file, similiar to my description above for PDFs.
