Changing apperance on AutoCAD 2009

We just upgraded from AutoCAD 2005, to AutoCAD 2009. My question is how do u change the apperance of 2009 so it looks like my 2005 did. The back round in 09 is white and i cant get none of the tool bars like in 05 to appear.

changing background

I haven't used ACAD for a number of years now, but I recall using the properties option from the 'file' pull down menu to accomplish this task.

Migrating from '05 to '09 is quite a jump and I would make a 'swag' that you are going to be stuck with the new toolbars and overall appearance of the new software.

Software designers are constantly justifying their existance by making numerous cosmetic changes from version to version.

Your vendor should be able to provide trainning to bring you back up to speed.

Hope this helps....PL Camp

Buy me a Beer?

Options>Display>Colors let's you change the colors. I'm running 2009 with a single custom toolbar. I created the toolbar in the CUI screen and deleted all the palletes and other things. It can take quite a bit of time, though.

Gerry.. I know it will be difficult for you to share your hardwork, but if you have anything to share about that custom toolbar...It will be your great contribution...

P.S:
I not using 2009, i am using 2007 because its more user freindly with toolbars...

Buy me a Beer?

It consists of the commands that I use the most.

New
Open
Save
SaveAs
Flyout with Polyline, Rectangle, 3D Polyline, Spline, 3 Circles and 3pt Arc
Flyout with Trim, Stretch and Explode
Flyout with MText, Single Line Text, Text Edit, Edit Attribute
Flyout with 3D solid and surface commands
Flyout with about 5 dimension commands
Flyout with Lisp commands
Layer Control
Dim Style Control
Viewport Scale Control
3D orbit
Visual Styles
and a few other custom VBA and lisp commands that I use a lot.

Also have a bunch of often used commands available with a right mouse click, such as
array
mirror
3D rotate, 3D mirror, 3D array

Hi all,
You can set AutoCAD 2009 back to the classic look with two settings, see the attached PDF for instructions on this.

Hope this helps.

This is just an observation, why do you want to change? I just started on acad09 from 04 and find that the ribbon with a little practice is much easier to navigate with a few key commands thrown in. I just changed the drawing colors back to the old standard.
