UCS PROBLEM

hello all.
im having a problem with my ucs in autocad mechanical 2006 and we cant figure it out. the problem is lets say im in front view and i got to move a part. i can move it left to right.
but it will not move up and down. i either have to rotate my ucs around or hand type in the dimension up and down (i.e. @0,0,1.0 which moves it 1" up in the z axis) have any of you seen this. im sure i probably switched a setting and didnt know. and there is no way i can track it down. any help is apreciated.

Did you put limits on the drawing size? If so, you might have to expand them.

I'm no expert, but that has happened to me as well. Sometimes I switch between model and paper space and it allows more length/height, don't know why.

UCS View establishes a new coordinate system with the XY plane perpendicular to your viewing direction (parallel to your screen). The UCS origin remains unchanged.

thanks wages it doesnt totally fix the problem. but it does work. i have to do that everytime. but thats better then rotating my ucs around.

Ahhh, in that case UCSORTHO set to 1 is probably what you need.


0 Specifies that the UCS setting remains unchanged when an orthographic view is restored

1 Specifies that the related orthographic UCS setting is restored automatically when an orthographic view is restored

wages you are the man. fixed right up thanks a million. autodesks help isnt the best. thats why i love these forums. thanks again

Autodesk has a user forum that is very, very good when you have problems.

yes they do. but i get quicker responses to my problems here usually.
