| AutoCad is very picky; it will not join lines if the ends don't meet exactly. If pedit refuses to join your example, do this: 1) find a line that won't join. 2) use 'break' to snip off a little bit off of the end that won't join (don't do this on arcs). 3) select 'stretch' and 'snap to endpoint'. 4) stretch the line to where you want to join using 'snap to endpoint' again. 5) select 'pedit', then 'join'. It should work then. Mariss |

| Type pedit and it should prompt you to select the polyline. Click one of the lines. AutoCAD may say something like "Item is not a polyline. Do you want to turn it into one?" Type Y and hit enter, then J (for join) and enter, then select all the lines you want to join and click enter again. As Mariss mentioned, sometimes lines just won't join. If not, try following his instructions.

| From 'File' pick 'export..', pick the .bmp file extension and 'save'. Convert to .jpg using a graphics program. The .bmp resolution will be your display resolution. If that's too coarse, export as a .wmf file, then convert it to .jpg. An excellent and free viewer / file converter can be found at www.faststone.org Mariss |

| I am sorry everyone i should maybe have explained what i am trying to do. I drew that plate in Autocad thinking that i could use it in my Cut3D so that i may cut it on the CNC, does that sound unreasonable or should i say unduable. |

| First, the reason you couldn't join them is because they are drawn using splines. You need to draw with arcs, or use circles and trim them. Then they should join just fine. Second, I believe that Cut3D requires a 3D model, not a 2D drawing.

| Hi meflis, I'm just guessing that these profiles were not originaly drawn in AutoCAD, but instead saved out from some other applciation as a DXF and that's where all the splines came from. Attached is the DXF with the line work basically redrawn as Polylines and circles so that you can turn them into 3D. Please check this file against your original, in case I goofed. Good Luck! |
