    Unable to extrude along path

    Hi,

I am not able to choose an arced cylinder as a path to extrude a box.
Attached are the entities I am working with.

If you generated the arced cylinder using a sweep, try using the path (line) that you used to generate that feature. Most extrude along path functions require a line or an edge.

    hope this helps

    Hi cam1,

Unfortunately I no longer have the path arc (sweep) used to extrude the cylinder along. I deleted it after creating the cylinder.
Is there any method to great an arc duplicating the extruded cylinder.

    Thank You,
    Pete Gallo

Not easily. How did you draw the path in the first place so that you can't duplicate it? You can probably get it close by "tracing" it in a side view.

    Try this:
Use the plane that runs through the CL of the swept cylinder to create a new sketch.Project one of the cylinder edges onto that sketch,(then turn into construction geometry) Use an offset sketch command to generate a new CL on that sketch plane. Then use that new line as the path....worth a try

    Hi ger21,

Originally I created a circle then kept the arc portion required.
I guess if this is the only way I'd better get to it.
Thanks for your help guys at least I wont feel their's a better way and I'm wasting my time.

    Thank You

I think he's using ProgeCAD and doesn't have any (or most) of those options.

    Hi,

Good memory Gerry yes I am using ProgeCad.
I did find an offset parallel command but nothing for sketch.
I realized if I could extrude the arced cylinder along the Y Axis I could create the entity I'm looking for. But I'm not able to do this with this entity, what differs in this entity that does not allow these type of manipulation.

    Thank You
    Pete Gallo

Only certain entities can be used for the path. The help file should tell you which ones.
