inventor file imports

I am doing some work in solidworks for a guy using inventor. What file format is recommended to provide the best chance of an error free import. We have already tried iges and have had problems.

Any ideas appreciated

I'm pretty sure that (at least recent versions) Solidworks can import Inventor (IPT) files. You might want to try an SAT file if the ipt won't import directly.

Thanks for the reply, sorry I wasn't more specific, I am trying to save a file in solidworks that will be easily imported into inventor. I can open ipt files directly with solidworks but cannot save as as an inventor file. Is sat still the way to go?

Save as STEP AP203,it's a very good neutral exchange format.

I agree. Step files translate well from my somewhat limited exchange experience.
