    hello!

I'm about to start making a cnc machine.

Can I get AutoCad to work with my cnc machine?

Can anyone describe what i should do to make this work?

Is there a add-on or something that make autocad work with cnc machines?

Please tell me a bit. I'm kinda newbie

What you need is software (cad/cam) to make g-code from your acad. drawings. Somthing like BobCAD or MasterCAD etc.

auto-cad is for design of parts. You need another step to make code that your machine runs to actually make the parts. There are many options and expense levels for this, commonly called CAM software.

Start cheap. First learn a bit about hand coding your machine, also called G-code. There's a free ($75 to purchase) trial program you can find on this NG called NcPlot. It will convert from auto-cad to G-code.

If you're using 2002 or newer, you can use the free macro I wrote that will export g-code from within AutoCAD.
