Need Help!- Down loading parts from McMaster Carr.

What is the best to use? Is there anything that I can download, and modify in Inventor?

What are you trying to do? I normally just get the step files but it all depends on what you are trying to do so....spill the beans.

I agree with getting step files.

But if it's a assembly you'll want to hit the options button when opening the file. Make sure the path is set correct folder otherwise the assemly parts end up in the root folder.

I found out, that most of the files will be a "dumb file". I was thinking it would have been more detailed.

Yeah someone has to make those files, it takes time as you know. Manufacturers typically don't provide their best CAD so that people can't copy their work as easily. Resellers don't have the resources to generate high fidelity drawings for every part.

If I need to know some specific dimension, I can usually just wait till I get it and then measure. I have also called them a few times and they have been able to get me the info I need.
