    Newbie Questions

Hi everyone, have a few questions. Starting in the near future I will be working in a machine shop and trying to get a good idea as to software. I am very fluent with Autodesk Architecture which I use daily where I'm out. I've used R14 up to the current version. Now we will be producing race parts, some I think might require a 5 axis mill.

My questions are, can I use AutoCAD and then what program would I need to write the G-code? Or is there a program that has the same commands as AutoCAD that can write the G-code instead of having 2 softwares? Finally, what software is recommended.

All answers would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks

If you need 5 axis g-code, then you'll need a 5 axis CAM program. Once you decide which one you'll be using, then you can find out if you're AutoCAD models will work with it.
