    Concerto dwg to AutoCAD dwg

I have just joined a firm using an archaic CAD system called Concerto 5 and am convincing them to modernise to AutoCAD 2011.
Concerto saves drawings as Concerto.dwg files but they can't be opened in ACAD.
There is an option to save as an AutoCAD dwg file, and these can be opened in ACAD 08-11, problem is there is 15+ years worth of drawings i need to convert!!
I have tried a few dwg to dwg converters off the net with zero success (invalid file type)
Has anyone else come across Concerto before and had a similar problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    ConcertoNC7

    Hey Kevin,

The company i work for use concerto nc 7, and yes it appears to be prehistoric and rare these days. Unfortunetely i cannot help you with your query. did you ever find out the answer to it? it may come in handy for us also.

What im actually requiring is a Concerto NC post for a heidenhain control... dont suppose you have 1?

    Cheers, Dave

    Hi Dave,
we never found an easy solution, but we found someone to write a script for us to do a bulk conversion... It's quite costly so haven't had it done yet, I am just converting the drawings manually as and when I need them... Only takes a minute to do, and I leave most of the legacy drawing mod's to the older guys who still use Concerto anyway.

I also updated our CNC software to OneCNC (excellent value for money!) so never had to struggle along with Concerto NC7. We do have it installed on an few old PCs, and we did used to post to Heidenhain (TNC 155 & 407 i think), so if you give me a clue as to the file extension/location then i'll dig the post out for you...

    Regards

    Kev

    Kev,

Ironically we have also got oneCNC software. we still tend to use the concerto as some of our machines are older and dont have the memory capacity for the huge programs one cnc creates. I would guess it can create programs to suit the machines but we have never looked into it quite enough.

Anyways, Thats great news that you have heidenhain posts. The heidenhain control of the milling machine is iTNC530. But hopefully one of the posts you have are capable of posting to it. (worth a try anyway)

The file directory of the machine post on this computer is
    C:\nc\mill\machines...

The posts we have are .FMT & .DFM formats

attach the files to a direct email to myself - davidewing@belmar.co.uk

    Much Appreciated, Dave
