    AutoDesk HSMWorks SUCKS in Turning

    Hello to all,

Does anybody of you use HSMWorks Turning?
If yes, why nobody is talking about how much it sucks. I am sick and tired of taking to HSMWorks resalers who really want to help and I feel these guys are bunch of great people but their hands are tied up and they can only hope that Auto desk will wake the heck up and do what they were promising for years.
Now Fusion and Inventor along the side of Solidworks and this is still ignored ???
I can't complain about milling, it does what it should but Turning sucks.
To all of you who consider buying HSMWorks , take a trial and test turning. And don't waste the money. there is no support no materials to refer to when you run into problem , things like boaring are set completely awkward and it seams that nobody cares to fix it. Auto desk bough over the HSMworks and completely ruined the product that was beautifuly growing and evolving into a leading CAM software.
They are pushing the Fusion and Inventor which is okay okay but neglected the HSMWorks and its development. Nothing major was done to it for years.
Unless you count the new Version numbers.
And never mind the extortion approach in with the maintenance fees. If you don't pay your yearly $1200 fee you won't be able to ever upgrate to a new version of the software. You would have to buy entire new package again. What kind of communistic bull crap is that. And nobody protests.
I intend to let everybody know and I hope that those of you who can share my frustration would join and do the right thing. let's inform everybody about whats going on. People should know the truth. I am an owner of prototyping business and I always treat people the way I want to be treated , after many years of empty promises nothing major was done to address the simplest things.
if you don't believe me try to call the support of HSMWorks at autodesk.
They don't even list the phone number , so good luck.
I would be open to hear your opinion about it.
Let's make people who are about to spent their hard earned money with Auto desk to be aware what are they getting into.
    Mike.

Have you tried posting in the autodesk support forum? There are guys there that will advise you within minutes of posting usually. I tried both inventor hsm and solidworks hsmworks and will say they felt like different animals all together, Runs much better in inventor imo. Did you not trial solidcam and hsmworks before you bought it? Your problems are most likely down to user error though im afraid to say, Ive seem some stunning turned work created with hsmworks.

    Thanks for reply
I know what I am talking about, since I own HSMWorks since 2013 I had plenty of conversations with the support. You can turn basic stuff pretty easy and it will look ok. You can also spend hours and create work around and get what you want.
This is not the point. The point is that they know about the problem they admit that the turning is way behind competition and they keep lying that they are working on new release that will all take care of it. Nothing major was done. No support materials in any form are evailable.
Long story short , try parting a piece with chamfer on the back of the part.
Everybody has it as a "click on" option. HSMworks ? No.
Have you try setting up boring operation on the Lathe with HSMWorks. Good luck with setting up the top and the bottom of the part. Did you try to turn the OD profile and come to finish the faces and chamfers from the top down so the tool doesn't drag and ruin the finish ? I know a thing or two how to do it and in can draw additional sketches lines and planes to get it done. But it should be a matter of choosing an option and you are done. You can do whatever you want you can edit the program and do your magic manually too. But they clame they are the leaders in CAM. So they should be held to that standard. I have no complains about the milling part.
I love it. Few things could be better but I can live with what I have.
But Lathe is neglected and that's should be known to those whom are thinking about spending the money with them. I don't know about you but it is a pretty penny they want for it. At least in my opinion.
I make no secret that I do intend to either get them to work on it because I like the rest of the software or I will share this information with as many people as possible and hopefully they will avoid the frustration before they pay.
What's right is right. And I don't want anybody else to feel like they been lied to.
    That's all.
    Mike.
