Gday everyone,
First post in what seems to be a very cool website.
I am designing my own intake system for a very unique engine.
The engine is a Naturally Aspirated 20B 3-rotor engine, which will have extensive porting.
The throttle body I have designed is made to have 6 individual runners in a compact space. It utilises 3 primary runners (40mm dia) and 3 secondary runners (45mm dia).
It is fairly simple in design though, and I believe it only requires 3 axis milling, (please inform me otherwise).
The throttle body is designed to be made in two sections, it will have PTFE (teflon) tube inserted inside and bearings pressed into each opening of where the brass shafts will exit the body.
It is to be made from 30mm aluminium.
This is the concept here:
The trumpets will be made from carbon fibre,(this is my old field of work).
So, for this I need two solid tools that will be used to layup the carbon trumpets on.
If you look at the pictures, the surface that makes up the inside profile of the trumpet will need to be polished. The rest of the material can be left unfinished.
These could be made out of 100mm aluminium round bar, or made from a small section of 100mm and a smaller diameter bolted to it. This would reduce machine time.
Concept of the tool:
And the carbon parts that come of these will look like this:
So to sum it up, there is a throttle body and 2 trumpet tools.
If anyone could quote me for these parts or point me in the best direction, it would be greatly appreciated. I have the AutoCad files in .dwg for these parts.
Thanks guys.
