    Quotes Wanted

    Hi,

I'm currently trying to get some work for my soon to be retiring boss. He plans to bugger off around australia and (god forbid ) have me and his grandson apprentice run the show while he is away.

Due to lack of orders and the purchase of some new screw lathes, the chances of him shutting the doors is starting to become a serious option.

Although, he really has never had to advertise as he has had his loyal clients over the years, this is really 1 thing i'm gonna pressure him to do in the coming weeks.

Basically we are strictly mass-production. anything 1000 off and onwards he will look at. Turning, milling, drilling tapping welding, soldering ect. but sizes are really capped to a Dia. of 42mm.

Can anyone out there help us? We offer a decent price, and as the slogan on my sig we do it right the first time, every time.

    Cheers!

Sounds like you now have to become salesman, not something I enjoy. Over here in the USA it seems large quantity jobs like your boss is after go pretty cheap, unless they are very complex. My first suggestion if you don't already have one is to put up a website. A lot of prospective customers will use that to verify who you are. It can just be as simple as an equipment list and some sample parts you guys have made. I have found quite a few people posing as machine shops on the internet that are doing nothing more than outsourcing jobs to third world countries. Your website will help verify that you are a machine shop and actually do the work in house.

Sorry. To be honest i dont mind being a salesman/tradesman, but i was on cnczone a week ago and forgot to log off. My boss/supervisor who is known as brisbanite on this forum posted this message on my account LOL!

I know people are posing as engineering shops and it honestly ****s me to tears to keep hearing about it, but ALOT of people do it! My brother in law makes a living from out-sourcing. Hes a qualified builder AND plumber and doesnt get his hands dirty one bit!

We do a good job, a decent priced job and it goes out the door right every time.
