6th Brisbane CNC User Group Meeting - 6th Feb 2010

Details for the next bi-monthly Brisbane CNC User Group meeting are as follows;

Date: Saturday 6th February 2010
Time: 10am till ~3pm
Where: Wilston State School Art Room, Primrose Street, Wilston Qld 4051
What to Bring: A machine, parts, work pieces or something else of interest.

ALL ARE WELCOME.

Darryl has offered to show a laser-cut acrylic technique that he's been working on lately that may be of use to people.

I'll bring along my WidgitMaster Wide router and try and find something of interest to show.

If others have something of interest they can show, please let me know.

The venue is a large room with concrete floors, tables, chairs, a sink, several powerpoints that we can use, and a roofed but open area outside it that we can spill over to.

Darryl has kindly negotiated for us to use this venue for at least the rest of 2010 for each bi-monthly meeting in exchange for CNC work that he carried out for them. But if others want to volunteer their own venue, especially if you have large machines on-site that would be of benefit to show others, then that would be great.

We are waiting confirmation to see if someone can cater lunch for around $10 per head, otherwise we'll just go to a local cafe.

RSVP by posting a reply to this post and let me know if you are bringing a machine so I can allocate space and power for it.

Regarding catering, Tracey of NaiveSpice is keen on catering for us, but she will be out of town that weekend. So we'll have to do for ourselves unless someone else wants to step up. Fortunately there are quite a few cafes etc locally. Or we can call in a pizza.

Actually if we could put "catering" in the agenda that'd be good, a few minutes to discuss it would be worthwhile I think. If the majority of members are happy to kick in $10 and get a nice lunch--and let's face it, most of us eat on a Saturday anyway--we could make it a regular arrangement. Saves the trouble of having to leave the venue (and maybe miss something interesting), and a heck of a lot healthier than pizza etc.

Yes I will get there. You always learn something you didn't know about at these meetings. I will bring some of the ultra-low cost endmills that I bought from Hong Kong. So I won't need any bench space for that.
