    Help needed in Melbourne

    Hi guys,

I guess it's ok to join Australian Club House and call for a help at the same time :-)

I need some experienced in MACH3 and cnc routing guy who lives in Melbourne to come to my place(Point Cook area) and help me to configure MACH3 to work with my Excitech SHG0609 router.

It came without any details on how to do it. I contacted Excitech and they are working on it. I am sure they will help sooner or later but I want to start routing asap.

I am new to all this stuff and I thought I could figure out all by myself. It turn out that I was wrong. I have found all pins for XYZ and I can control them from MACH3 now. However I cannot find any pins related to a spindle. So far I can control spindle only from a small digital keypad that attached to mach control box.

If you are interested to help me with MACH3 configuration and then cut out some small piece from pine just to show how to do it please send me a message.

I don't mind to pay for it any reasonable price based on time you'll spend. Let me know how much you want to be paid an hour.

    cheers,

    Mike

    Mike,

The company you purchased the router from should have provided a .xml file for Mach3.

Jeff, I checked all CDs they have supplied with the router but couldn't find anything.

There are 6 xml files on MACH3 CD but they are all old with modified date being in 2008. They seem to be a part of MACH3 installation. Their names begin with WR-. There is also another one called LazyCam.xml but it has only "profile" node in it and no data at all.

The second CD they have sent to me contains two PDF files with manuals for VFD. There is a lot of tecnical data and details on how to control the spindle using digital keypad. There is nothing related to MACH3.

I asked their sales rep on last Friday to get all details for Mach3 configuration from their engineers but nobody knows how long it will take. The router defenatelly came with mach3 control box as expected and all works including the spindle if I use the digital keypad. I can control all 3 axis from MACH3 after I found all pins for them.
But being new to all this and the fact that I cannot turn the spindle on from MACH I am sure there is a lot of things missing or set wrong in configuration.

    Question

    Ozstockman,

Did the router company provide your Mach3?

Do you have a instant messenger?

they have supplied CD with MACH3 but without configuration file for the router.

Thanks for offering your help Jeff. All problems were sold yesterday with Neil(neilw20) help. He came to my place and configured MACH3. Everything is working now. This guy is a real pro and it seems there is nothing that he cannot fix.

    Thumbs up

    Ozstockman,

Happy to hear you have everything working now.

Neil is a extremely smart man, having him as a mentor is like winning the lottery.

He is absolutely brilliant, I look forward to reading all of his CNCZone posts.

To bad he is 12,000 miles away from where I live.

    Hi Mike,

I am happy to help but cannot do it this week. Weekends are also very busy. I can come over one night next week if that suits. It shouldn't take more than an hour or so to sort out.

Let me know if that is OK with you.

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Hi Peter,

thanks for offering your help. I think all problems with configuration have been solved.

I am having troubles with getting a smooth cut in pine for Bulls head example but I guess it's because I cannot find out what are the best settings for rpm and feedrate.

Hi guys I have found this forum, I am completely new to CNC and I need help as well!!!

Imported this High-Z S-720 from Germany with 4th axis and it finally came yesterday. I tried install it myself, being a mechanical engineering graduate, I thought I can do it, but the router head is yet to move an inch!

I hope all the equipment aren't faulty. I am using a IBM Thinkpad t42p laptop (changed ACPI to standard PC, parallel port to output only, disabled power management...etc) Installed the software WinPC-NC with the USB security key, set the parameters to s-720, plugged in Kress spindle, connected all the wires to the control box, all went smoothly but when I turn it on and try to move it, nothing happens! The motor makes a small noise but won't move at all. The emergence button works fine at turning it on and off.

Do I have to use a desktop to run it? My desktop is running win7 (can't get xp mode because of the motherboard doesn't support virtualization).

I rent in Parkville 3052 and crammed this machine in my 10 square meter room. I have emailed the manufacturer but thought I might get quicker and better help from someone in Melbourne. Ozstockman, where is this genius Neil? I am near bankrupt thanks to this machine though.

Any help from you guys on this forum is welcome!
    Hugh
