I am involved with a hackerspace in Melbourne, Australia. Amongst the projects that Hackerspace Melbourne have on the board is a small benchtop CNC router for producing Printed Circuit Boards and other light machining tasks. I'm a computer system administrator, working with Linux, though enjoy getting my hands dirty by doing something practical outside of work. I'm sorry that I missed the CNC BBQ in Melbourne.
