    british copper threads

My apologies for the incorrect reference that I previously cited. My haste is embarrassing
    - I did find this wiki reference as a possible source
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Standard_Whitworth

    - British Brass Thread is an imperial unit based screw thread. It adopts the Whitworth thread form with a pitch of 26 threads per inch for all diameters. It is often wrongly called British Standard Brass but is not actually covered by a British Standard.

Nominal sizes are usually in the range 1/8 to 2 inches.

    I found the following references
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British...d_brass_thread
which states .......British Brass Thread thread is an imperial unit based screw thread. It adopts the Whitworth thread form with a pitch of 26 threads per inch for all diameters. It is often wrongly called British Standard Brass but is not actually covered by a British Standard.
Nominal sizes are usually in the range 1/8 to 2 inches.
    another reference
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Standard_Whitworth
which states ...... Other threads that used the Whitworth 55° angle include Brass Threads, British Standard Conduit (BSCon), Model Engineers (ME), and British Standard Copper (BSCopper).

I also found this in another forum
    -----------------------------------------
BA - British Association aka British Attachment
    BSP - British Standard Pipe
    BSB - British Standard Bicycle
    BSF - British Standard Fine
    BSC - British Standard Course

    BSW - British Standard Whitworth.
    BSBrass British Standard Brass
    BSCon - British Standard Conduit
    BSCopper - British Standard Copper
    ME - Model Engineers

    UNF - Unified National Fine
    UNC - Unified National Coarse

    NP - National Pipe
    AN - Airforce/Navy.
ISO Metric Coarse (the common one)
ISO Metric fine (everyday but not as common as coarse, found for example on TRE's on modern cars)

With all things threadlike, a Zeuss chart, thread gauges and a micrometer/dial caliper are your friend.
    ----------------------------
here is a link to a Zeuss Chart

    -----------------------------------------
I checked my various musty hard bound books and could not find anything more on this thread's dimensions
    - that' all that I have on BSCopper

    If it's a lead screw I'd doubt it's 26tpi?

If possible I'd consider machining a new leadscrew and nut either Acme or Metric Trapezoidal thread form.

You could even consider putting a new ballscrew inplace of the leadscrew.

    bs copper

the zues chart does not cover B.S.copper and its not in machinery handbook.
the lead screw is an acme thread but the thread in question is for a attachment on one end of the shaft (lead screw). niggle its a 20 TPI thread
