Hello All
I'm just getting started in CNC. After looking at various options, I bit the bullet and am getting a Syil mill from Toolmach and will need to get some basic tooling to get started on the learning curve!
Who in Melbourne can I look to for tooling? I won't need anything too fancy to start with. The only bunch I know are Hare & Forbes. Do they have more in store than they do on their web catalogue?
Many thanks
Andy

Wow! These guys look very expensive (only checked out ball nose cutters). They are about double what I can get them for in Townsville QLD. It may pay you to order from here and have the tools delivered in an overnight bag.

Hi Andy ...
You can buy high quality bits from John at Custom Carbide - 0419 199 800.
For collets try Deel Tools on 0407 882 231 ..can't remember his name.
There's also:
Stuarts Industrial Supplies
5/38 Bridge Street
Eltham
1300 733 490
But H&F are a very good source for pretty much most stuff you will need to start off with and they have both low end, mid and high quality.
....and you should have bought one of my CNC kits ...![]()

Hi Andy,
The best buys are done from chinese wholesalers, sorry to say.
I bought 15 ER25 collets for $42 australian and $30 postage.
The guys up the road charge $30 for just ONE er25 collet, likely sourced from china as well.
In these hard times its a bit unaustralian though.
If I dont do it, they will.
best I shop local then since I'm in Townsville too

I've purchased tooling from...
- ebay
- www.minitech.com.au
- total tools (for Sutton end mills and slot drills)
with no horror stories.
Also useful are...

- www.smallparts.com.au - $$$
Hello All
Thanks very much for all the info!
I'll go and have a look at H&F to start with. Once I'm a bit more educated I'll start looking at various other options.
Cheers
Andy
