To what extent would an engraving machine count as a desktop CNC?
Hi all,
some time back I visited a web site which was a desktop cnc router buyers guide, it was set up like a spreadsheet with ratings and coments on variuos aspects of each machine, it had almost every desktop cnc router on the market listed, the list was huge. I wanted to have a look at the site again but I cant seem to find it, I think it may be gone. Does anyone have a link to it or a similar site?
Thanks

Lists do tend to become out of date quickly, and as new methods and products become available it's always worth putting in a bit of background time.
There are plenty of people on the forum that have machines and experience. But there is a lot of difference between, for example, a large table wood router compared to a lightweight desktop engraver.
Aside from spending a good 8 hours searching through threads to get some focus... specifically what would you like to do with the machine? You don't necessarily need to know the right questions to ask straight away... but others may be able to point you in the right direction for more information.
My main interest in finding the buyers guide, which I suspect is no longer in existance was to have a good look at what's available in the mid to high end range of products. I am considering building and selling this type of machine as a hobby business and want to see what the range of machines is like. It's all pie in the sky stuff at this point, I may go in a totally different direction as there are many factors to consider. It may not even happen at all.
