    Question G'Day Everyone

    Hi All,
I use Autocad 2002 for producing drawings in a DXF format for importation onto a Multicam CNC router. Does anybody know if there is an add on program for Autocad that will enable 3D drawings to be saved as a .NC fiile? Reason being I cannot import 3D files in .DXF format onto my toolpath program. Not sure why! It only accepts .dxf, .plt or .nc files. Any info would be appreciated. Alternatively, would I be better going to a different drawing package? Just seems a waste to have to relearn another package.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    G'day mate,

Do you have a 3D DXF file? If you do post it here and I will try to help you.

    DXF file

    Hi Michael,

    Here is another one.

    Thanks,
    Chris

Thanks for the response. Here is a simple 3d DXF file, unrendered. Let me know how you go.

    Thanks again,
    Chris

    cpworkshop,

I imported your 3D DXF into Mastercam X and it created a Solid body ready to be Tool Pathed.

    Hi Michael,
I have no problem creating the DXF. Problem is the toolpath program thats with the machine wont accept it. I have been told I have to import it in .nc format however, Autocad does not allow me to save .nc formats. Mastercam does though right? Whats the damage on mastercam?

    Cheers,
    Chris

    You don't want to know.

You might be able to get the 2d program for $5,000 I think. Someone here more MC savy might know better than I.
