    limit switches

well only took 30 minutes to find this page. Question I have just got"Mach3" and am fitting limit swiches to the mill, on the X & Y axis with only one micro switch is fitted to each axis with stop at each end of travel. (I would call the stops a cam) Is this ok and also plan to use this as a home switch can you see any difficulty with this set up?

Not sure about just one switch per axis, I believe it should work fine. I've used two per axis (for + and - limits). In fact, I string all the - limits in one chain to one input, then same for the + limits. I also use the - limits for the home position too.

Eclipze thank you I hadn't thought of setting up the switches that way.

Yes this is OK. That is how I have my machines set up.

You can have both switches wired in series to one input. Mach can deal with that.

However if you have spare inputs it can be more convenient to use an input each.

A little easier for fault finding. You can also home both axis simultaneously if you wished.
