| Hi there from Otago in the lower half of the South Island I'm pretty new to the CNC revolution, am about half way through converting my minimill, (X2 type) to CNC. I bought a 3 axis kit from Keling in the USA, (great guy to deal with), 425 oz/in motors, 4030 drivers, 24V power supply and have just got the Mach3 software to run it, man this is going to be a learning curve and a half. I'm a mechanic during the day but have a hobby workshop at home that keeps me out of her way ![]() It's great to see so many suppliers that support the small guy doing it at home and this forum is just such an excellent resource. Will be sure to post some pics as soon as I get it all up and running. Cheers. |

| A person after my own heart. I have to be careful and not say man-after my own heart. Must be politically correct. My favourite unit for speed was furlongs per fortnight. What does 5.75 km per year calculate out at? It is 575000cm per year, or about 227000 inches per year (I do not think metric). When you take away vacations there are about 2000 working hours per year which is 120,000 minutes. So 227,000 inches divided by 120,000 minutes gives 1.891ipm. No, that is a very slow feed rate, sorry.

| Hi I am from Dunedin also. Have got one router up and running to experiment with different linear system. Am working on another one. First one is running Mach 3 or Emc2 (computer has dual operating system) cnc zone steppers and driver board and an old orange Black and Decker router pretending to be a spindle. |
