Wow! this site is just what I wanted. Hi all, I joined this forum a few years ago to read an article about something and have only just come back on now to make my first post. I've been interested in electronics and woodwork for most of my life and now work in both fields. I've often thought about making my own cnc machine but had no idea where to start. I know i could learn more about stepper motor control and programing etc but can someone please direct me as to where to start in this forum? At the moment I'm just kinda clicking around reading all this interesting stuff and looking at great pics but still don't know where to start. I want to build a small cnc first. To hold my dremel and then learn about software to cut simple square shapes & slots etc for my boxes then move into making fonts for small signs. I guess I need to start by ordering some stepper motors that will suit and then the necessary driver boards and software to hook them up and control them. I'm in Melbourne Australia Any help or direction/tips on where to get started in this exciting new hobby would be greatly appreciated. |
