Hi First post here. I am about to buy an X2 Mill and plan to convert it to CNC. I have found a heap of different conversions on the net and have pretty much worked out how I am going to do it. I am trying to work out where to source a balls screw and nut for the Z axis, most of the conversion plans from the US use imperial ball screws, I thought it would be better to stick to metric as that is what I am used to. Seems like 16mm X 5mm would be a close equivalent to the 5/8" screws specified. Any suggestions? Thanks Chris Springwood, NSW |

Chris, I've just received 16 mm x 2.5 mm ballscrews from "Marchantdice" in the UK Although listed as rolled , they look like ground, as the finish is so good. Took about two weeks to get to me. Look up their web site through Google. Also, if you can get hold of them, the UK magazine 'Model Engineers Workshop', issues 102, 103 & 104 has a first class set of articles on conversion of an X3. If you can't get the articles, e-mail me and I help all I can |
