    4 axis controller

Hi all, I am new to all this cnc stuff, I have used a bridgeport mill and lathe for
some time now but when i first saw what one of my mates could do on his 5 axis Masak I was hooked, line and sinker so i decided to build a 4 axis hobby table and was wondering if there are any budget type 4 axis controllers that someone would know about.
The steppers i am going to using are nema23 425 ounce 8 wire.

Thanks in advance fo any forthcoming respone.

    Cheers Lou.

It sounds like you are using the same motors that I am using. I picked up a four axis driver from this place:

    http://www.aliencnc.com/aliencnc_009.htm

I have a few more weeks till I get my machine to the point where I can try it out so I cant offer any of my experiences with it. I only paid $110 USD for mine. Has anyone else tried this driver that could tell us if it performs well? This board is set-up for 4-wire motors, but you can just wire your 8-wire steppers in parallel or series. Good luck!

the motors you are using are pretty much as large as is feasible with this drive. I wouldn't recomend this drive for router type systems over 1m on any axis, and is not feasible for mill conversions weighing much over 120 lbs. Short of these limitations it should be fine.

    re drivers

thanks for the responce, Yoopertool have you run your motors with this driver as yet?
I bought a 4 axis board that was rated at 10 amp per phase and ran it with
the 425oz motors in unipoller @ 2 amp per phase, not much chop, it is going in the bin.
i have now orderded 4 50v 4.2 amp per phase bipoller drives from kinling with a breakout board and i hope this will yeild a much better result.
these drivers will opperate in micro stepping mode from 200 to 25600steps per rev.
is anyone in here using the kinlig driver and what have the results been.

    Cheers
