Taig Lathe and Mill source in Oz?

Anybody know of an alternative in Australia to www.taig.com.au for Taig Lathes/Mills and accessories? I'm a bit miffed that they are charging about 4 times the price of the same items in the US...

I know this is an old thread but I found it when looking for a taig lathe in Australia. I ended up buying my lathe and accessories from Tim Goldstein at A2ZCNC (www.A2ZCNC.com). Even with postage from America it was considerably cheaper than the www.taig.com.au or www.lathesonline.com.au (which I am assuming are the same store).

G'day folks i personally like the TIAG as well a friend in the US has one and let me use it for the 3 months i was there, came back to Oz and called Taig.

they are not interested in your or my business, at 500% mark up on spare parts they have all the business they need. sad

I went looking for the Grizzley mill equivalent
and found this place

www.titanmachinery.com.au

the guy knows machines

is very helpfull, good selection of tools

i'm buying a 300 mm centre lathe the same as the grizzley mini lathe

i already have the mill

i am a very happy camper, and its way cheaper than TAIG.

cheers

I too got my little mill from stueyde@titan too, a ZAY7045FG

I wanted a machine that was as big as I could get, but still be handled by just myself (move on a small trailer, lift with a small car engine crane). It was my first machine, and since I wasn't making parts for the space shuttle, a value for money chinese machine seemed ideal.

I did the sums, and although you could source a similar bare machine cheaper - Titan's comes with a lot of extras that others didn't:
  • 125mm machine vice
  • 8pc collet chuck set
  • Keyless drill chuck 1-13mm
  • Stand
  • Chip tray
  • 58pc clamp set
  • Face cutter
  • Work lamp

To me (starting with nothing) they were worth more than the difference.

Before the sale, Stuart found the best value, and most convenient shipping. He happily answered all my stupid questions.

And here's something rare these days: After the money had changed hands, Stuart was still very helpful, and went out of his way to solve the few issues I had. I love that guy.

From the experience I had, I couldn't recommended them any higher.

6 months later, the machine's still much better than I am, and my one regret is that I didn't do it sooner.

G'day folks

I heard and verified the following

McJing Tools in Sydney Australia.

do not buy from these people, I bought a lathe from them that was DOA

i returned it but the refund cheque bounced, ok i'll get it sorted ,BUT

They resold it as new to a old army pensioner i met today, sold it at full price and it still does not work but they then told him to bring his documents in for warrenty repairs, once they had the invoice back from him they told him to leave the store, as they had the eveidence of purchase.

I spoke with them today about this and there attitude was it was the buyers problem his warrenty had expired,

i have my receipt and shows the serial number the same as the purchase by the pensioner , 4 months ago.

they are liars cheats and sell crappy tools

do not buy from these people

but i will fix thier little wagon and i will get my and the pensioners money back if i have to burn it out of them..

do beware these theives, the wife is the worst liar i have ever run across

the trial of screwed over people is HUGE!!!

dont join it!!

cheers

You really don't like them do you? Sorry to hear you've had problems.

All I can say is that I've dealt with McJing and found the service acceptable. Product delivered as advertised.
I now buy my lathe bits and pieces from a US supplier as they have much better prices. It takes about the same time to ship from the US
as it does to get the same (or similar) item from a local supplier.

Dont like them??

understatement of the year there,

they got a exdigger to come in, got his proof of purchase off him and threw him out onto the hume highway. now he cant fight em.

I called Bankstown police and they state its a civil matter i asked about them throwing him out after tricking him to get the documents from him, they replied its not there problem.

they ripped me off the same way.

told me they knew consumer affairs would not act on industrial machinery. they only fear larger business's that can afford lawyers.

find a new supplier is my advice

when i and my mates get back to australia we will fix em. bet on it.

i am sick and tired of strangers coming here and treating our ex diggers like dogs.

they rort as many people as possible ..

this will stop .
