Any Sydney-Siders looking to make a buck?

Hey Gang. I don't know if this is considered uncouth. Forgive me if it is.

Are there any metalworkers (hobbiest or otherwise) that could cut some extruded aluminium lengths for me? Preferably someone located anywhere between Sydney CBD all the way down to about Nowra. I'll gladly pay for the service.

The lengths are almost 2 metres long, and need probably about 50cm cut off the end. I'd do it myself with a hacksaw but they need to be cut at the perfect right angle so that they all cleanly go back together. Some of these pieces are very odd shaped extrusions, but a right angled cut could easily be acheived with a drop saw or something similar.

The reason for this, is that I am cutting down a 36channel audio recording console, to just 20channels. The frame has been unassembled into pieces so I don't think it will be too big a job?

You could get a cheap timber mitre saw that will probably do the job quite well for about $100.00, using the timber blade it comes with, just remember to wear all the safety gear, and it will be noisy, just remember to clamp it well.

Perhaps I should just grab something like this? It would always have a home at my fathers house, even after I use it for what I need to do.

That is pretty much what I had in mind, but that blade is for steel, and will not give a very nice finish on aluminium, if it cuts it. You can get special blades for ally, but for a one-off job I would just get the timber version. I have used my timber mitre saw on small jobs cutting aluminium and it works a treat.

As you mention you can still use the saw after you do the job.
