Another Inspiration Seminar (AKA BBQ) (Melbourne 30th October)

Boys,

I thought you could use the "Seminar" thing as reason to have another get together and inspire the building of a machine.

Do you guys want to have a get together in the next month or so.
I am happy to host it at my place, just means you have to drive to Wattle Glen instead of Donvale?

Any thoughts about it? Any date requests? 16th/23rd of October.

Hey Benny, i didn't know your 89 years old!

/Michael

Damn, I wish I lived in VIC sometimes, but only for the BBQ's and Grand Final Footy Day.

Benny looks very young for his age, he has looked after himself very well over the years. He is the youngest 89 year old I have ever seen, lol.

GO SWANNIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeh You set the date and I will be there. Preferably a Saturday for me.
Wattle Glen sounds cool to me.
I suggest you PM a few of the guys, I dont know if they will chance upon this thread.

Its all the grease from my machine that keeps me looking as young as I look.

Hey Guys
Derek here a.k.a. derekj308. I would like to attend the BBQ and would like to request the 23rd of Oct as a preffered date as I'll be out of the country on the 16th. I'm in Melbourne metro and have just built a 5 axis stepper controller (just gotta wire it properly instead of jerry-rigging it LOL ). I would like to meet "the locals" and talk CNC and get some inspiration to build a machine to accompany my lonely 5 axis controller.
Cheers
Derek

23rd October is good for me.

I think the following weekend is cup day which doesn't suit me or many others possibly.

Mike .... love to see your machine and would definitely like to see Derek's 5 stepper controller (do u feel like donating it Derek ?)

Andy_ck87028

PS Am gearing up to start a log of my machine.... have done heaps of work on it and it is definitely nearing the next stage

Hi Andy
I'm wouldn't mind giving the 5a a good flogging on a good machine that has no backlash and has been levelled. I've got a wood 3a machine that is a bit rickety as far as backlash and all round slop goes. The 5a can supply 2.7A continuous on X and Y and can supply 2.7A across Z, A and C. I was (I am? LOL) planning to counter balance Z so there wasn't going to be a great deal of current required on Z anyway. I have got MEGA step resolution so a pulse generator with a decent frequency would be great. I've tried the freebie Mach2 so I've only gone to 25kHz. I can't wait until MachX and the G-Rex are paired up.

If there is a machine in the Melbourne metro looking for a one night stand with my 5a I would be willing to set up a date.

Derek

PS G'Day Dave from CNC Teknix. Me and John L drove you back to St Kilda from the model railroaders meeting John invited you to.

Hi Derek

Love the proposal but my machine has yet to have drive assembly.

Interesting u talking about railroading, I started this wretched CNC lark as a way of accurately building coach sets in Gauge1.

I might get back to that one day after this bug has been worked thru!

See U soon hopefully.

Andy

After 72 Years I think I will allow my own offensive behaviour to be allowed just this once , lol

I am still on a high, after being a club member for 10 years (9 disapointing years) I think it will take a long time to come down. I will be engraving a 500mm x 500mm swans logo with Premiership Winners 2005 at the bottom for my Bar, as soon as I do I will post a pic of it. (That is if anyone give two hoots)

I might be down in Melbourne some time in the next 2 weeks and would love to catch up for a beer if anyone is interested. I will be staying in St. Kilda but can come in to town to meet up.
