    CNC machining required

    Hi,

I am posting in the hope someone can help me find somewhere that can machine some 1" aluminium bar. I have a requirement for 100 - 150 pieces 3 to 4 times a year.

I have had quotes from several places in Newcastle. Some didn't want the job some said they would do it and then were always too busy doing something else and others with the price they were charging must have misunderstood my drawings and thought I wanted them Gold Plated.

If anyone can do the work or know of a reliable place that charge reasonable prices, it would be much appreciated.

    Regards

    Hi,

I dont think I am asking for cheap labor. Keep in mind I havent had any CNC machining done, but our factory in the US has plenty of machines I have seen working. Looking at a CNC machine and comparing to machinists manually turning the pieces, I would guess that 35% to 40% quicker on a CNC than manually. I was just surprised that the quote for CNC was nearly double what I would expect the cost to be for manual machining, hence the question.

I am not expecting the price to be 35% - 40% of manual machining, but would have thought the cost would be close to the same if not a little cheaper.

    Regards
