    380oz Stepper Motor Question

    Hi.

A quick question from a newbie...

This is my first build, and I've gone for the G540 and 387oz steppers.

Just how much router weight will a 380oz motor handle on the z axis through a 1/2 inch lead screw?

Depending pn the number of starts, anywhere between 200-500 lbs.
But, the answer isn't really that simple. The faster the motor spins, the less torque it has. The maximum amount it can lift is at it's slowest speed, basically barely moving.
If the motor is spinning at 1500 rpm, it may only be able to lift 1/10 of that weight.
