I come from a land down under

Nah, just kidding, I moved to aust when i was 5 and have been there since other than work travels (eg. in Chile right now)

So I figured I'd say Hi and introduce myself... I'm D (Diego actually but I go by 'D' )

Compleatly new to the cnc world but i have experience with CAD, 3d modelling, programing (and can practically learn any language of it), as well as general construction (built a house) and i studied a bit of engineering; so i figured it cant be too hard.

I have nothing to work with though, so i aim to build or buy a small cnc router/mill/whatever it is called but i'm still not sure of which, ideally im thinking a 1ft x 2ft or 2x2 working area with Z travel of a couple of cm

what are peoples suggestions to starting off? it seems everyone has one of these in their backyard in US but doesnt seem that way in AU so not exactly easy to have a play or see one in action

Welcome to the Zone, & a world of were fantasy can be brought to reality

If you can do the 24x24 I would go with that size, I'm building one for a friend, 12x18 which I will be putting the build up on the Zone soon, I think with your Zaxes you want more than 2cm, 3" to 6" would be a better choice
