    Hi Guys,

I've been thinking a bit more on my 1.2 hour talking slot. I'm thinking of doingthe talk on setting up a handheld pendant using the ModIO. I'll put one together for the talk, and bring it along, hopefully with an engineering note so that people can take away to build there own. It will be very similar to Terry Parkers pendant.

    http://www.machsupport.com/forum/index.php?topic=184.0

I'm planning to use parts that can be easily obtained from Jaycar. The Engineering note will contain construction details and possible the G-Code for cutting out the enclosure.

The talk will concentrate on seting up Modbus and the associated Macropump, etc.

If anyone has any comments, I'd like to hear them.

Benny, What presentation facilities are going to be available? An airconditioned lecture hall? Catered morning tea? etc....

    Cheers,

    Peter

    Cheers,

    Peter.

    Cool Another noob

Hi Ive got tired of being told "I not posted yet", so this looks like the ideal bait.
I hear these are a great day and I dont have an excuse for not getting over from Coburg.
I may have to drag along a friend who has actually done something.
My background was as a toolmaker and play with steam engines , wifi and kick Linux around for fun.
Looking forward to seeing what can be done and getting a better feel for the scale of systems
    Regards Rob B

Peter, the subject matter sounds great. Pendants are always of interest.
The presentation facilities will be me with a machine rag, ready to wipe the sweat off your brow.
I will ask Mike if he can bring the video projector along again. Maybe a video camera for direct display. There will be a lap top ready to demonstrate whatever you want.

    Thanks for doing this.

Anyone else want to take up a half hour time slot?

Yes I will do a Vectric software presentation.

I will need a data projector if possible. It would be a bit hard without one. But I don't have access to one.

Do you think we should do a quick run through setting up Mach3 on a 3 axis router?

    hi

CrazyIvan the venue is only 10 to 15 minutes away from Melbourne airport

Really depends on the traffic and if you get a taxi driver that decides to give you a tour of Melbourne before you get to St Albans Road ( corner of Stradbroke Drive ) St Albans 3021 Melbourne Victoria Australia where the venue is.

One gentleman is actually going to watch a AFL Football game and then coming to the Melbourne Australia CNCZONE Convention/BBq but your welcome to come straight to the venue.
    .
Also guys the train station is a 5 minute walk and 25 minutes into the city centre by train.

Melbourne Airport (also known as Tullamarine Airport ) www.melbourneairport.com.au

Melbourne Avalon Airport is about 20 to 25 minutes depending on traffic www.avalonairport.com.au

Online street directory www.ausway.com.au Just plug in the streets and you can get a perspective where the venue is.

The venue is in the middle of the two railway stations. Ginifer Railway Station ( St Albans Road ) St Albans Railway Station (Main Road / St Albans Road) - V-Train Station www.viclink.com.au/stop/view/22243

    country rail www.vline.com.au/index.aspx?sid=0

    cheers

I will be flying in but unfortunately from a little further away, so I will have to arrive the day before and leave the day after. Good idea though, surely we can tempt more Sydneysiders along...

    Cool

I'm looking at flying in to Avalon and hiring a small car to drive in.
It's ~$80 cheaper than coming via Tullamarine (that'll more than cover the car & snacks).
I'm not a local but Google makes it look about twice the time & distance to get there. Fair enough.

    Current plans - Arrive: 08:45 & Depart: 20:10.

JetStar with "Carry-On Only" is just $118 ($69+$49).

What time do such events trail to an end? Should I plan to leave earlier?

Officially 5 PM but you always get the stragglers who are up for a chat and a drink.
Last to leave cleans up afterwards

Hey guys, I hope you don't mind but I have emailed Ron Nollet who is in Melbourne, you may have heard of him, he has an online store and sells some motion control related products, steppers, drivers etc. He also stocks a full range of basic stamps and also the propeller chip and accessories - also made by parallax. I have bought a prop and programmer from him in the past and he is good to deal with.

Project # 1289 on my list is to make a 4 axis motion controller based on a Prop chip, outputting to discrete H Bridge's, basically a plug and play system, choose the power you want and plug in the correct size H Bridge.

Anyway he sounds interested in turning up for a yarn, He said he can demo some stuff if it is OK.

    Cheers.

    Russell.

I am new to this CNC business I want to cut and engrave Acrylic Panels for a Aircraft Flight Simulator, also have Emco 8 Lathe with a small Milling attachment that I would like to convert CNC control and to that end some advice how to go about it.

    and could not attend.
I will definitely attend the BBQ on the 24th of May will also bring a friend who is also going to build CNC for his Model Railway Hobby,
he is going to join this Forum in the next day or two , so could please add us to the attendance list and when you have a spare moment Email me the address of this venue.

I had a thought, the BBQ just happens to coincide with the best time of year for fishing up here, one good size Red Emperor or Large Mouth Nannigai would provide enough fillet to cover the BBQ in the movie twice over. If anybody is interested I could put one aside (so long as we catch a couple) and bring it down in a frozen transport pack (already filleted of course). I am sure it is possible to take this on the plane, just have to work out the details.

It won't be any trouble, just say the word if reasonably fresh reef fish is suitable for the BBQ ... tropical painted crayfish tails are also a possibility.

I'm flying in to Avalon and will be hiring a small car to drive in.

I hope to fly in & depart by about 9AM, arriving at the venue around 10AM.

I'll set off by 6PM to return to the airport with a flight out at 8PM.

If I can be of use to anyone... let me know.
