Default Think I have made quite a blunder

    Hey All

I am located in QLD Aus and have ordered my first ever CO2 laser Engraver/cutters

My experience is very limited as I am a scroll saw guy (simple to use for a simpleton like me)

Since ordering I have discovered it states "This machine is equipped with DSP Control System for CorelDraw/AutoCAD and other advance software. This machine is compatible with WIN7,Vista,XP and WIN2000."

All of my laptops and desktops run windows 8 so am now freaking out that I will not be able to use the machine? or will I?

Have not received the machine as yet but it is this one

I did try the search feature of the forum but it seems I am alone in making such a screw up lol

Any info or help will be appreciated

They probably haven't updated the specifications since the advent of Windows 8; I'd try it before worrying much more. If it really won't work, then you can probably "downgrade" to Windows 7 (which I actually like better) by wiping out the old system on one of your machines and installing it from a disk, assuming the machine is compatible with it. Here's some information on doing that, from an Australian perspective: Where can I get Windows 7? - BIT

If it doesn't work there are heaps of cheap PC options on Gumtree. A dedicated PC with all other programs removed is the best way to go anyway as it looks like it's stepper motion so less chance of any issues. Surprised it is USB connection, this can be an issue when driving stepper motors.
I reckon you will be fine though, it only needs a DSP signal and the right software in windows 8 should have no problem with this.
