  1. Fanuc OT to run DC drives?

Hi. We have an old Okuma cnc lathe with a dead OSP3000 control. We also have a complete Fanuc OT control with AC drives, motors, and encoders. We are looking at running the Okuma with the OT control. Can anyone tell me if the Fanuc OT can be used to run the DC drives of the Okuma. Would like to install the AC fanuc drives and motors onto the Okuma as well, but it would be a real challenge to fit these motors onto the machine. Any advice would be appreciated.

Adapter plates and custom made couplings is the way to go. If you stick with what the 0T is configured to work with you will be way better off.

+1, adapter plates and new couplings will be much easier than using those antique Okuma drives.

The ball screws on the okuma are 3mm and 6mm pitch. Can we change a parameter on the Fanuc OT to change the ratio of the 2500 ppr of the encoders? Thanks. Clarence.
