Denis,
Can you email a larger image?
Jeff...
Hi.
Can anyone convert this photo to a relief for artcam pro?
The background and leash would have to be removed. The size would be 200mm or 8inches square approximately.
I am willing to pay for an OK job.
Thank you
Denis

can someone tell me how when you convert an image to bitmap, how to change the scale it goes the - way i would like to see it pop out at you in the + way. i have artcam
thank you
Invert relief Z function tab will reverse the relief. You can also try turning
your bit map image into a negative in photo shop.
Sometimes you can pull out more detail with a negative image,
some color adjustments or image filters like "dust removal" functions.
Depending how good you master image is.

thank you
how do you make your reliefs. like what do you start with, how did you start the pheasant. i'm just getting started
Well I started out reading the manual and working through the tutorials.
Converting an image to relief, the relief still looks "flat" and in most cases is just lame. If you think about it there's only so much information in a bit map image. And ArtCAM, or any similar software, can only translate so much from it. So to make the pheasant "POP" I built a composite of (2) reliefs. A "Base" relief and an "Overlay" relief.
1)Made a relief (.025 high) with a negative image of the pheasant.
2)Save as "Overlay" relief layer/save "Overlay" file
3)Open original image and build "Base" relief with vectors
4)Build, sculpt, modify as needed. (this is the time consuming part)
Save as "Base" relief layer/save "Base" file
5)Paste "Overlay" relief on top the "Base" relief.
Save as "Complete" relief layer/save "Complete" file
6)Cut it, assemble it, ship it!!!!!!!!!
There are other techniques and process that can be used.
It's all about the "Layers"![]()

i teach at a school and when done pictures there is a few things that we have found to be most helpful
1) the photo in mastercam works better in gray scale
2)do not resize it and change it to bitmap them go to cad program
this seems to really make the photo suck
3) be careful when you resize it maydistort the photo
by the way to do a oic on a piece approx. 4 by 7 what would it cost
kids do it at school- takes long time to run because use a 1/16 bit
so not cost to school
thanks dave
Dave,
I hope your in Quebec. And teaching in French, because your English grammar is atrocious.Sorry for giving you a hard time. But I just couldn't resist the opritunity to
a teacher.
I used a 1/2 flat bottom em to rough and a 1/8 ball mill to finish (2) birds at a time. Took about 40 minutes to cnc the both of them. As you can see on the tool path simulation image. The detail is not nearly was fine as the relief. So a dremel tool was used to tighten up some of the lost features.![]()

Dave Todd71,
Are you a cabinet maker, what do you use Artcam for?
Your work is awesome.
