Hello all! I'm very new to using ArtCam and I'm trying to figure out why there are extra relief cuts around all my letters and around all the outlines. I'm sure it's something I'm doing wrong and I've been struggling for a week to fix it and can't. I can post the .art file if that would help.
Regards,
John![]()

THank you so much! I've updated the original posting with the .art file. I can not thank you enough for looking at this for me. I'm using ArtCam 2008 (build 151).

John, the file you posted is not the same as the one used to cut the blue image above.
In the art file you upload, the profile toolpath you used to clean the letters does not have the center of the A's and B's selected and toolpathed.
There is nothing wrong with your toolpath or file apart from the missed centers of the A's& B's.
Re-looking at the blue image I would say after you did the tool change there was a difference in the z-zero causing the z axis to cut deeper on the letter profile cut.
another thing is your ArtCam version build is not the latest for that version.
from your help drop down menu select check for software updates, you will be taken to the download site. I believe it is SP6 build 358 for 2008

Here is the picture of the actual sign as it was cutting that G Code/.ART file. It seems like code/machine is gaining depth as it goes. The mill doesn't have that issue on other signs. I think I might go through and check all the depths myself in G Code.
John, I checked and simulated your file here and it had no errors.
your issue seems mechanical.
Are you using vacuum hold down? if not and you are using and upcut tool it maybe lifting the foam?
are you running the simulation on your toolpath? errors/bad cuts in the toolpath it will show up in the simulation, in your case it doesn't

Thank you for your input and effort. I'm finding that the field mills out great, the issue is Mach3 losing it's Z zero from the first block of text to the second and again from the second block to the third block of text. I'm trying to recess the letters and do it as a mold. Gotta get a product out asap.
