    ArtCam pro tutorials

    Hello All,

I downloaded these tutorials from here.

    http://digfablab.wikispaces.com/ArtCam+Pro+Tutorials

    ArtCam pro tutorials.pdf

    NewTeddy.art

The very first tutorial "new teddy" following the tutorial step by step with the teddys ears my results are different than the results of tutorial. Could this be a error in the tutorial or am I totally missing something. Hoping some1 will give a try and see there results.

    Thanks
    Dan

That's an old tutorial but it is correct. You don't say how your results were different but my guess is you failed to do a merge high with the shape editor for the parts after you added the main body.

    Thanks for your reply Gary,

My trouble is with the ears of the teddy, I get the same results as the tutorial with everything else.

This is the results shown with tutorial.

This is the results I get.

No matter what I tried I can't achieve the same results shown by tutorial pic.

    Dan,
I just looked at the instructions in the link you supplied, they are incorrect and do not match the instructions with our book of tutorials, which I previously referred too.
to correct the model do the following.

    Creating the ears
1.Select outer vector (for both ears, should be grouped)
2.Hold shift key and select inner vector of the ears (all 4 vectors will be selected)
    3. F12 to bring up shape editor - select dome shape with no limit, angle 45° and start height of 0.5. Select Add
(this will create the outer ring of the ears)
    4. Deselect vectors and sector the inner vector to both ears
    5. F12 for shape editor - select flat plane start height of 0.5 and press Merge High.

This will put you back on track

edit: one more thing the original model is very low in resolution so you might up the res before building the model for a better finish

Thanks Gary, I thought there might be a mistake with the tutorial but what really annoyed me was that I was able to figure it out . It was the flat plane I was overlooking.

    Thanks Again,
    Dan
