3D Cutting with Artcam Express and AXYZ Router

I just had our AXYZ router upgraded and with it received Artcam Express 10. Within the menus are some relief cutting shapes already designed (horses, dogs, etc) I go through the steps and have done some research and when the machine cuts it only makes a shallow flat relief and then returns to the start position and the spindle stops. A good recommendation on how to cut reliefs for beginners would really be appreciated.
