I don't have Autocad or SketchUp etc.... but this is how I do it in Inventor. This will work in other CAD systems as well.

    Step 1 Create a sketch
Step 2 Select the sketch you wish to Revolve.
    Step 3 Revolve
Step 4 accept and voila a solid Dome.

I hope this helps. Remember to dimension your sketch lines and arc to your desired size before revolving to a solid.

To be honest, it is hard to visualize what you are trying to do.
Hard to tell what "gun plate" means what to you. The Gun butt or"stock"?
Here is another example of extruding and cutting in Inventor. This shape is more like a wing.
    Step1 Create sketch
    Step2 Extrude with a taper
Step3 Create a work plane above the part
Step4 Create a sketch on the work plane
    Step5 Extrude Cut the shape
    Step6 the Results.

Now, that being said, all CAD software come with detailed how to's to get you started. If not, do a search online.

Elektryk, once you have a Solid model, you can import it in CamBam or ArtCam. From there you can select features of your part and create tool paths etc... and then create NC code (G-Code), that you can then send to Mach3 to machine the part.
    Sounds complicated? It can be.

    It's a grip for a handgun.
I found some youtube videos and a couple websites that are helpful. Do a search on YT, it should bring up plenty of videos for you.

Good for you Elektrik, I knew with some patience and reading you'd figure it out. Can't really see your attachments, as it takes you to a Page Not Found
