Any opinions out there between these two packages.What do you think is better for shop floor programming.

Surfcam will definately be easier. Cimitron is extremely powerful, but with that power comes a huge learning curve and a much higher price tag.

I'm using Surfcam now but we will probably go to Cimatron later when we go into high speed machining.Have you ever used any of these two for HSM.

Yes, Cimitron is very good at this. I've used Surfcam, but not the HSM.

Dunno bout the HSM, but if it's anything like everything else, MC9 will pwn!

:confused: hello,

i have a shop down in south fl . i'm looking for 3- cad cam software to create g-code nc etc. i just bought (EXCALIBUR 2003 CAD/CAM) SOFTWARE. have you ever heard of this? I'M sign maker and i'm crossing over to alum and wood inlays and 3-d carvings in wood. i have 2x (5'x 12 ) tables w/ 7 horse spindles.
i use (FLASH CUT TO CONTROL THE G-CODE) my problem is i use 3 programs to get a job done and its a pain in the butt!! i just want to use flash cut and a really easy to use cad/cam. have any ideas i'm all eyes!

Aside from the price - this is the one thats closest to the GUI features we get from sign making software. If i had the pockets for it this would be my choice.

Lets see some of your work. Are you into ADA yet?

Hi biker...why can't you just use Excalibur for everything you are doing. We use Excalibur and do 3D modelling etc. It's a great package and very affordable.
If you have any questions about it don't hesitate to ask
