Heres mine. My garage. I have a Fadal VMC15, upgraded controller, 4th axis, 4meg. Out of the shot are a couple Miller welders / plasma, cheapo sears 15" drill press, bead blast cabinet, bench, grinder / buffer and other assorted piles of stuff. I can't believe my wife puts up with this.

Well I don't have a shop at the moment. My original building was destroyed by storms last year. But I am putting up a new one now and if the dang rain ceases long enough to let me pour my concrete I might have some good progress pictures. But here is what I have so far.

I'm only going 12' x 16' due to cash restraints and I'm putting a 16' overhang to keep my gator, motorcycle etc out of the weather.

Cool, keep em comin. I dig seeing how other people have managed the task of packing all of the stuff you need to do metal work into a confined space. I have about 6 sq feet to move around in and I just about need new underwear every time the compressor kicks on.

Did that little critter come with it or did you have to pay extra? :D

Reason I ask is the wife is looking for another one and if I can find one cheap I'd rather go that route....less wear and tear on the wife, maybe skip right over the diaper stage etc.

Will do, I hope to be somewhat done in 3 weeks. I put 8 ton of DG in there last night and waiting on a decent day for concrete. I currently only own a smithy 3 n 1 machine, radial arm saw, small drill press and misc. tools and my wife is getting a little peeved.

Welcome to my dust bowl.
Lots of room, lots of dirt , and no machinery other than the router.
I had just finished the arcade cabinet complete with computer and monitor. Was been a hero trying to cart it up the hill by myself, on a trolly. You can guess the rest. My workshop is not very friendly to been able to move things easily.
The picture player may take a few moments to display.

Jon

:O/T:

I don't hear it, but then, I don't allow flash to play in meh browser..

Here's why.. (http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=74&e=5&u=/cmp/20050401/tc_cmp/160400719)

Company Bypasses Cookie-Deleting Consumers

United Virtualities is offering online marketers and publishers technology that attempts to undermine the growing trend among consumers to delete cookies planted in their computers.

The New York company on Thursday unveiled what it calls PIE, or persistent identification element, a technology that's uploaded to a browser and restores deleted cookies. In addition, PIE, which can't be easily removed, can also act as a cookie backup, since it contains the same information.

...

According to JupiterResearch, a division of Jupitermedia Corp., 58 percent of Internet users have deleted the tiny files, essentially making many consumers anonymous during site visits. In addition, 39 percent of consumers are deleting cookies from their primary computer monthly.

United Virtualities's PIE helps combat this consumer behavior by leveraging a feature in Flash MX called local shared objects. Flash MX is a Macromedia Inc. application for developing multimedia Web content, user interfaces and Web applications. The technology runs on a Flash Player that the company says is deployed on 98 percent of Internet-capable computers.

For Firefox users, the Flash Block extension (https://addons.update.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?application=firefox&version=1.0&os=Windows&category=Web%20Annoyances&numpg=10&id=433) would help; it blocks all Flash content and gives you the option of displaying the SWFs that you want ;) And it couldn't hurt to tighten your Flash privacy settings here (http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager02.html).

Speaking of Flash, if you're noticing some sites manage to open popups/unders in Firefox, set privacy.popups.disable_from_plugins to 2 (you'll probably have to create this one) and dom.popup_allowed_events to an empty value in your about:config. Or you can get this XPI (http://mozilla.osuosl.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/experimental/popupsdie/popupsdie.xpi) if you don't want to fuss with it. Dirty websites now know that Firefox will block popups spawned by JavaScript's window.open() function, so they exploit the ability of Flash and Java applets to launch pop ups. The Web is a sneaky place.

JFettig

Micro Mill is CNC, but burned up motor, currently fixing. Uses Mach 2. Lathe is undergoing transformation to CNC. Bought Hobby CNC kit and Ron Steeles' plans. Probably will use TurboCNC. Rong Fu will be converted when all other projects are caught up.

This is the current state off my workshop.
I think a bomb site would be a suitable description. Most off the stuff is waiting to find a home on the shelves which are yet to be installed, which I can't do until the workshop has been insulated. Then all the machines/tools/parts will be juggled around to get some sort off organised chaous.

Then I might be able to start CNCing one off the milling machines (that'll be the one in the bottom right corner off the second photo which has various boxes stacked up on it)

All the dirty/dusty tools (grinders, welders, plasma cutter) are kept in the garage next door.

That's a statement of fact. I have enough yard for a shop. I can about swing building a shop if I eat beans and rice for a while. I can't get approval for the homeowners assoc for a 20x20 finished externally EXACTLY like my house.
So I got "smart" and went up the road about 20 minutes and bought a 1/3rd acre lot in an industrial park. Now I am at the point of I can about afford building a shop if I eat beans and rice for a while but the ^%$#%^%% city wants so much landscaping, setbacks, engineered solution, sidwalks etc. that I can't afford to build a shop. Sigghhhh...

I am kinda in the same predicament, I don't have the homeowners assoc, but when they built my house they put it pretty close to the boarder of my land, Not leaving me with much back yard to put a shop. So my neighbor beside me said he would sell me a portion of his land that runs behind my house. I am in the process of buying the land now. Also the land needed some bulldozing done to get it ready for a shop, like leveling it slightly and getting rid of a few stumps. I actually have a bull dozer and dump truck sitting in my back yard right now as I type. Hopefully tomorrow if it don't rain they will get it done. All of this means that after I pay for the land, and excavation fees, I will have to save all over again to build the shop.

Here's my shop, I got one that I do allt he rough work on- CNC mill and conventional lathe with all the usual sanders, drills, welder etc etc. I then take the parts to my Ultra Precision Diamond Turning Lathes which have a resolution on both axes of about 0.8 nanometres (seriously)- as you can immagine the laser poitioning system gets affected by the density of whatever it's passing through (in this case air) so the lab has to be temperature controlled- a variation of 2 degreees will mess all my dimensions up it's fun when it works. I'm making lenses with an optical finish straight off the lathe :-)

Anyone know why it's only shown two pictures and not the other ones plz?

Here is a shot or two of my shop and office. I hope to add them to my website soon along with some pics of some of the work I have done.

Of course I don't use the Lagun much anymore as dials just aren't any fun to turn anymore, works good for my dad though. Rather have him screw something up on there then on the big one!

There's nothing quite as "guy comfy" as a workbench that's obviously had the crap beat out of the working surface. Just sort of makes you want to grab a chair and settle in for a nice BS session, cause you just know anybody who uses a workbench that much is a seasoned BS'er and is gonna have lots of fun tales. ;)

Anyone else have a shop they would like to share? I will share some photos of mine once I ever manage to get one built.

That's not a shed. It's an operating theater.

Here is my shop.I should be nominated for the most messy shop.In reality we spend 20 minutes everyday before closing to cleanup.
The saw is a sliding table with scoring. It is a Wadkin from the 60's or better. It weights 2500lbs and is wisper quiet due to the mass.
