It does sound good, but what about adding a website to the forums? I guess that would be a lot of work/expense though.

Absolutely... Would be a grand thing to have.

Seems like most professional references and wares in the CNC/Machining world requires the reader to invest money (Usually obscene amounts). It'd be nice to have a advertiser supported E-zine that can be a trusted reference.

Anything that fuels the Hobbist base will cause prices of software and Parts to reduce to nominal levels. With what we've got now a servo system can be done for about $1000 now which is probably about half of what could be done a year ago. for example: If the hobbiest community can double or triple over the next year then there will be a source that will introduce a source for servos and controllers that will bring that down even further into grasp of the home builder. Maybe even Linear slides and ballscrews will come down to reality. Things are different to a supplier when their customer is no longer industry and becomes the home consumer. Retail goes out the door and competiton comes into play and the guy with the best + lowest cost solution wins.

User contributed projects would be a nice feature to have in there also. With complete plans available in DXF format for additional $. to further support the costs.

OK here is what I'm think-

1) the online mag will be posted very 3 month's so that's 4 issues

2) it will be a HTML format with pics etc

3) i would need all article, news items etc 3 weeks before publication

4) I need a proof reader, because my spelling a grammer sucks

5) I would need a couple other people to help with the layout and logo's needed etc

Any more ideas, post them here ?

Paul:
I can edit an article or two. I was an author and the editor/publisher of "The Robot Builder" for 3 years. TRB was a monthly newsletter put out by the Robotics Society of Southern California (RSSC).
The group is still active :) , but the newsletter has died :frown: .

robotic regards,

Tom

I would be glad to throw in a helpful hand with:

4) I need a proof reader, because my spelling a grammer sucks

hehehehe

I may not have the online experience/credentials that I have seen offered herein, but I would say that I have written more than my share of business plans and divorce court filings that I have been told were excellently done.

I especially appreciate all this forum offers in the way of help to newbies like myself, and would be more than happy to give back what little I can offer.

Paul,

Are we still doing the e-magazine? Or are we sticking with the technical articles thing, or both?

Eric

CNCadmin

I'd like to do the tech articles for now and once I get a good base of them and we have regular contributor’s we can produce or combine what has been written into a mag.
