Hello all,

I have a Sharp SV2412 with the Fanuc 0i Mate-MB control. I know where the backup battery is on the control unit (A98L-0031-0012). I was informed on another forum that there is a 6V APC battery also. Can anyone tell me where to find this on the machine? I'm new to Fanuc and don't want to lose any data or parameters.

I have a 2412 also theres 2 yellow control boxes in the cabinet. Each one has its own back up battery .

The larger yellow control box under a plastic cover holds the 6 volt battery it backs up the absolute encoders so the machine knows its position when its off.
It lasts about 2 years.

On the small yellow control box is a small 3 volt battery it supplys power to the memory that hold the machines paramerters when the machine is off. This battery last from 6- 10 years .

When the batteries get low the machine will give you a alarm every time you power up the machine . When you first get this alarm you have about 2 weeks of battery life left . I keep a spare battery in my toolbox.

Most important aways change batterys with the power on.

I still can't find the 6V battery or the plastic cover for that matter. Here are pictures of the drive section if that helps. I can look into the drive through the bottom vents but I don't see any battery in there.

Thats strange here is a picture under that little box is the batteries.
your control has the holes where the battery box hangs from but no box.

Where the wires plug in on the right look for CX5X this is where the battery plugs in.

If nothing is pluged in there the machine may not have absolute encoders.

Im confused on a machine with absolute encoders the encoders always remembers the machine position so there no need to home the machine on start up. This is the way my cnc lathe works there no home button on the machine no need to ever home the machine.

But on my sharp 2412 I have absolue encoders witch always remembers the machine position but I must always send the machine home on startup .
most machines use one method or the other but not both.Can't figure.

Your control box has a different model number than mine my machine is a 2005 model what year is yours?

I'll look for CX5X. Mine is a 2004 model.

Nothing is connected to CX5X except for a small brown plastic part. It's only purpose is to keep the two pins from shorting against each other. Charleton at Sharp said to look on the cabinet door but there is no battery there either.
