I have a .100 thk 5052 part to make. It's about 4" X 10" and has four different size D holes. I can get enough volume to justify getting a press to stamp parts. What tonnage would I need? I'm thinking about 50 but I'm not a press man. I would get the tooling made locally and my toolmaker says I can probably get 10 times the strikes I need to do the job. The job would run about 3 years with a standing PO. So any suggestions on what brand and tonnage press I should get?

Take the linear measurement incl. all the holes in inches x thickness in inches x shear strength for 5052 aluminum (21000 Lbs) divided by 2000 = required pressure in tons.
I do not know the size of the holes.

Pressure in tons = shear strength psi x thickness in inches x length in inches / 2000

Thanks. I calculated 64 ton minimum needed.
