I have a one off project that would require me to index the spindle on my TL-1 and then have it hold, then index again and hold etc. Can I do that on this machine? If so can someone explain briefly how? I would appreciate the help, I have never tried anything lke that.

Don't think so. Usually only live tool lathes can. Our TL1 can not for sure. Pretty basic machine.

Have you thought of making a fixture or something like a simple indexer?

Don't know about a TL-1...
But I do know that if you buy the bar feeder with your lathe from haas,
spindle indexing is included. They do it so you can index the spindle for
hex stock bar feeding.
I have it on my SL-20...they didn't turn it on from the factory...but the
codes were in my setup papers...so I had service guy turn it on when they installed machine.

Thnaks guys I figured it out. I was searching in my manual and on the net for TL-1 "spindle indexing" since I was thinking of an indexing head. Turns out I found they call it "spindle orientation". So I turned on the 200 hour try out option for "spindle orientation" and then used M19 Rx.xx and it worked perfectly. Got my part made and only used up about 2 of the free 200 try out hours.

Don't forget to turn the option off after using it to not loose your 198hr. And you must reboot the machine after that.
