I ahve some crazy threads that I have to cut for a ballscrewbut mount. The threads are 15/16-16 and .664-32 I got the nuts for roton along with the ball screws but not sure how to cut the threads. maybe have to thread mill... any help is appreciated. Thanks
Oh btw this is for 7x12 Mini Lathe CNC conversion

Can't cut the threads with the lathe?
I looked around at some of the usual tool places. It seems that the smaller thread is really strange.. I can't find a tap close enough to work. I did manage to find the larger tap at msc for ~$30. I might try calling roton and seeing what they suggest (they might just sell a tap). I called them earlier today about some of their freewheeling ballscrews and they were exceptionally helpful. Also, they do sell mounting flanges that screw onto the threaded end of the ball nut. I'm sure these would be easier to deal with. I'm not sure how much $ they cost though.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the msg. The smaller one is by far the weirdest and rarest thread I have ever seen (and everyone agrees with me :) ) I looked in a McMaster Carr Catalog and found the 15/16 tap fro $50 but im glad you found one for 30!! My Lathe is basically Disassembled pending the CNC Conversion. I did think about doing it on the lathe as well though. The reason I didn't buy a flag was because of the way the nut for the ballnut was desiged. It allowed for a chip guard to cover the ballscrew which I would like to keep incorporated with the design. This project is being done between 3 people. RotarySMP or something like that on here, he did all the drawings. and a guy named peirre is helping with the parts. I have done a majority of them already at work on a large VMC that I run. But this should be a nice looking setup. If worse comes to worse I will give a call to Roton and cave on a flange, they are very good people. I bought all my ballscrew stuff from them, and have been very happy. Thanks for helping me out

Look in the classifieds under tooling. Taps are for sale alot cheaper.

I have a similar problem that I have not yet solved. I have a ball screw with bearing preload threading that is extremely unusual. The threads are 10mm x .8 pitch. As far as i know nothing like that exists. Does anyone have any ideas?

I can't help with the 10mm x .8 pitch, but with the other two sizes, both Roton and Nook make mounting flanges for these ball nuts. They cost about $20 each.
